About Kristina Sangalang DNP, FNP-BC

Kristina Sangalang was born and raised in the San Francisco Bay Area, where her journey in health and wellness began. A Division II student-athlete at San Francisco State University, she competed on the Women’s Swimming team and earned her Bachelor of Science in Kinesiology with a concentration in Human Movement. Originally aiming to become a physical therapist specializing in sports medicine, Kristina’s passion for patient care led her down a different path.

In 2009, Kristina relocated to Michigan to attend nursing school at Madonna University. She went on to work at the University of Michigan, where she spent 11 years caring for bone marrow transplant and malignant hematology patients. Her time there inspired her to pursue advanced practice, aiming to make an even greater impact in her patients' lives. She graduated from the University of Michigan where she earned her MSN followed by a Doctorate of Nursing Practice. She is board certified through ANCC as a Family Nurse Practitioner. While at Michigan, she also earned recognition as the 2020 recipient of the prestigious Josephine Sana Humanitarian Award and Scholarship.

Kristina joins our practice after working as an NP in hematology and oncology, bringing her expertise in managing complex acute and chronic pain. Her comprehensive oncology experience and kinesiology background enhances her ability to care for a diverse patient population with compassion, skill, and an emphasis on quality of life.

Outside of work, Kristina enjoys reading, season tickets to Michigan Football, traveling, running, and spending time with her husband and two young boys.
